New York’s Central Park

Restoring a masterpiece with Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, 1982-2011

Working With Betsy Rogers

Institution builder par excellence, her Southern grace perfectly cushioned a flinty Texan resolve. She created the Central Park Conservancy and much else. I had the pleasure of seeing her in action with a number of Parks Commissioners and Mayoral representatives.

I served on her team as the Parks' sociologist and, with the help of students and colleagues, carried out numerous surveys and countless observation's of park users.
